My Friend Thomas Ministries
I grew up in a military family living my life in many different states and countries. Growing up with Christian influence all around me, I accepted Christ at a very young age but didn't start to follow Christ seriously until the summer between the 8th and 9th grade: after that time I went through the normal ups and downs that most young Christians go through. I attended Church and was involved in Youth Group and I was also very involved in Young Life.
After graduating High School I put college on hold and I moved to Colorado to chase a dream of being an Olympic skier, there I began volunteering in a local church working with their youth group. The youth pastor and his wife there at the time encouraged me to use my voice to serve the Lord through music and also taught me to play a couple of chords on the guitar. My joy and passion for worship grew from there.
During the summer of 1995 I worked my first of four summers at Kanakuk Kamps; it was there that my relationship with God was taken to an entire new level. Not just being a Christian but becoming a follower of Christ and allowing Him to change who I am. And it was that first summer I bought my first guitar and asked God to give him just enough ability to one day be able to lead people in worship. God answered my prayer shortly thereafter and also taught me that praise and worship was not just singing songs but it was actually living a lifestyle that glorified Him. I began leading worship and songs for youth groups and young life and in 1998 the Lord moved me to Roanoke VA where He began to use me in a more full time ministry basis. I became the Youth and College Pastor at New Century Church serving in that role for eight years then moved into a full time worship leader position in 2006. I have been there ever since.
Over the past number of years the Lord has allowed me to share a walk of life with many incredible friends and musicians, growing and ministering together. As I continue to grow in my walk with the Lord I try to surround myself with those who will help me and encourage me. “As iron sharpens iron” these guys I play music with sharpen me and encourage me to grow closer to God and to love Him more, I just hope I am doing the same for them.
I have been married to my wife Heather since July of 2000 and we have a son who was born in October of 2003, his name is Parker and a little girl Karleigh born April 11, 2008.
I enjoy South Carolina Gamecock sports, mountain biking, skiing (snow and water), playing volleyball, and just about any outdoor activity.
My favorite verse is Philippians 1:21 "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."
My favorite place to eat is Taco Bell.
The most exciting thing for me is my walk with Christ
and the adventure the Lord takes me on daily.
